All NCFE Creative Craft in Hair Design qualifications are portfolio based only with internal and external moderation.
Entry Level 1-3
This qualification aims to introduce learners to styling equipment and products, allow learners to use a range of products and equipment to create a style whilst working safely and using appropriate personal, protective equipment.
Level 1 Award
This qualification aims to:
- Enable learners to develop basic styling skills
- Provide learners with underpinning knowledge of the styling
- Process provide leaners with the basis for progression into further study in styling related areas
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
- Develop a portfolio of work in styling
- Use equipment, products and accessories correctly and safely
- Develop an understanding of Health and Safety considerations in a salon environment.
Level 2 Award
This qualification aims to:
- Extend and further develop learners’ styling skill
- Extend learners’ knowledge and understanding of the styling process
- Extend the learners’ understanding of Health and Safety issues
- Provide the opportunity for further development
- Provide a basis for progression onto further study
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
- Use a range of products, equipment and accessories in a safe and competent manner
- Develop analytical and research skills
- Evaluate own work, develop ideas and learning through the styling process
- Develop an understanding of Health and Safety considerations in a salon environment.
Level 2 Certificate
This qualification aims to:
- Develop learners styling skills
- Develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of the creative process
- Provide recognition for enterprise skills and attributes
- Provide opportunity for personal development
- Provide a basis for progression onto further study
The objectives of the qualification are to help the learners to:
- Use a range of equipment, products and accessories in a safe and competent manner
- Develop analytical and research skills
- Evaluate own work, develop ideas and learning through the styling process
- Develop an overview of enterprise skills and the characteristics present in successful enterprise individuals.
Level 3 Certificate
This qualification aims to:
- Extend learners’ skills in styling to an advanced level
- Extend creative and intellectual abilities, e.g. communication, innovation and critical evaluation
- Extend awareness and understanding of setting up a commercial venture
- Extend awareness and understanding of health and Safety issues
- Provide the opportunity for personal development
- Provide a basis for progression onto further study or employment
The objectives of the qualification are to help the learners to:
- Work with others linked to a commercial brief including timing, finance and restrictions
- Use a range of equipment, products and accessories in a safe and competent manner
- Develop analytical and research skills linked to a commercial brief
- Evaluate own work, develop ideas and learning through the styling process
- Use feedback from client to develop commercial brief understanding
- Develop an overview of the skills and the characteristics present in successful commercial venture
